How does this program help our community?

This program helps our community by providing nutritious afterschool snacks/suppers to kids.

What types of meals can we receive or are provided?

For the afterschool meal program, sites can receive snacks and/or supper. For the summer meals program there are two options: breakfast and lunch OR lunch and snack.

Are sites allowed to have more than one sponsor?

No. Sites are only allowed to have one sponsor.

What is the rule when there are two sites in one location?

When two sites are at the same location the programs must have the same sponsor in order to receive meals.

Who funds the snack/SFSP program?

Currently, the Out-Of-School Nutrition Program (OOSNP) is sponsored by The Children’s Trust. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture.

When does the application period start? When is the deadline?

For the afterschool snack program the application process is ongoing. For the SFSP the application process starts in December and the deadline is by May of the following year.

How long is the application process?

The application process takes approximately 1-2 months.

OOSNP: Site Information Form, Tax-Exempt Certificate (501c3), DCF Childcare License or Exemption Letter

SFSP: Pre-Operational Application

Do the meals follow the USDA dietary guidelines?

Yes, all meals follow the USDA guidelines, and have been approved by the appropriate regulating agency.

What age group do the kids have to be in order to receive the meals?

Any child under the age of 18 can receive meals, however, certain special needs programs can be approved to serve adults.
